About Picturing Writing

Picturing Writing is a dynamic art-and-literature-based approach to writing designed to meet the needs of the students with diverse learning styles. Through the use of simple hands-on art experiences, the study of quality picture books, and an on-going Artist/Writers Workshop, this innovative approach to literacy learning gives students access to multiple modalities for thinking and expressing their ideas. It allows all students to enter the reading/writing process from a position of personal strength and enthusiasm. Picturing Writing provides an enticing, year-round, alternative pathway into literacy learning guaranteed to engage reluctant readers and writers.
