We know how hard you’ve worked to get to this point, and we want to reward you for your efforts. That’s why the Mount gives out more than $20 million in scholarships and grants each year. In fact, 100% of our students end up receiving scholarships and grants from the college each year, because we recognize how important it is to make a small, private education affordable.
Types of Scholarships:
*All students are considered for these scholarships at the time of application unless otherwise noted. Scholarships designated as “renewable” mean that the student will be awarded the scholarship annually for up to four years, provided they remain in good academic standing and still qualify for the scholarship based on program participation, etc. Students in the 5-year BA/MSed program can carry their scholarship to the 5th year; BA/MBA students may qualify for an alumni discount on their fifth year..
You’ve worked hard in high school, and we know you’ll continue to succeed at the Mount. We are proud to offer the following academic scholarships:
We offer the following renewable academic scholarships to first-year students. Students are only eligible for one academic grant, the highest amount for which they qualify.
|Academic Scholarship||Annual Award|
|Dominican Heritage Scholarship||$14,000|
Catholic High School Grant
If you are graduating from a Catholic high school, you will automatically be awarded a renewable $2,000 grant.
Several friends of the Mount have created scholarships in memory of loved ones or to help students in certain programs or with financial needs. Eligibility criteria differs for each scholarship based on various factors such as the student's GPA, financial need, major, geographic location, etc. All sophomore, junior, and senior Mount students can apply to all available Donor Scholarships through one application. For application details, please contact the Office of Financial Aid at 845-569-3700 or SFS@msmc.edu.
Why Teach? Education Scholarship
Every teacher has a unique reason that they were motivated to join the field, and we want to hear yours! Each year, we award a $1,000 renewable scholarship to select first-year Education students. Students are not automatically considered; you must apply online by April 15. Access the application here (please do not apply before being accepted to the Mount).
We award a number of grants based on financial need to first-year students each year. The level of assistance offered depends on the amount of financial need and the availability of funds, which is why we encourage students to file the FAFSA as soon as possible. These grants can be renewable depending upon continued financial need based on each year’s FAFSA and maintenance of good academic standing.
We love recognizing the achievements of students who have already succeeded at another college and wish to continue their education at the Mount.
Full-time, traditional transfer students are automatically considered for these renewable merit awards upon application.
|Minimum GPA||Transfer Merit Award|
|Less than 2.50||$11,000|
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
Phi Theta Kappa members are considered for an additional $1,500 scholarship.
Transfer Honors Scholarship
Each year, the Mount recognizes select full-time transfer students from the local community colleges (Dutchess, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Ulster, and Westchester) with a half-tuition scholarship recognizing their academic and leadership achievements. (Please note that students cannot receive both a Transfer Academic Scholarship and the Transfer Honors Scholarship.) To qualify, applicants must be graduating from one of these community colleges with an associate’s degree and have a minimum 3.3 GPA.
Top candidates will be selected to come to campus and interview with the Transfer Honors Committee. The scholarship is renewable for one year, provided that the student maintains a 3.3+ GPA, demonstrates continued leadership involvement at the college, and remains in good social standing.
Students are not automatically considered for this scholarship and must apply separately. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
