Mount Saint Mary College Nursing students learned lifesaving techniques for use in emergencies at the recent Stop the Bleed training on campus.
Stop the Bleed encourages bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. This national awareness campaign was founded in response to the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
The event was hosted by the Mount’s Student Nurses’ Association (SNA) and was led by Riley Norwood of East Haven, Conn., SNA vice president.
More than a dozen students attend the workshop. In the past two years, SNA has trained approximately 250 students and faculty members through this program.
