Mount Saint Mary College is offering a virtual Open House for all interested students on December 6 from 10 a.m. to noon, with optional morning and afternoon tracks as well.
The free event will take place via Zoom. You can register at www.msmc.edu/OpenHouse. A Zoom link will be sent to you via a confirmation email the night before the event.
The event promises to be more than just a boring Zoom experience. We are planning for this fun and interactive session to come to you live from the Mount Saint Mary College campus, It will feature the Mount’s friendly admissions counselors, as well as helpful faculty and staff. You will also enjoy a live virtual tour of the campus, hosted by a current Mount student.
Students and their families can also attend an optional Financial Aid presentation and a panel of current Mount parents. The college recommends splitting up into different Zoom breakout rooms so your family can all attend different sessions.
Students will be able to explore the Mount’s popular majors, minors, and concentrations. See how a Mount education in Nursing, Business, Education, Social Services, Communication, Media, Math, Information Technology, Science, and more can prepare you for your dream career.
In addition, the college is offering several exciting new programs for incoming first-year students:
Cybersecurity: Offered as both an IT concentration and major, the Mount’s Cybersecurity program provides theoretical and hands-on skills to identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities in software, operating systems, networks, and more. A major or concentration in Cybersecurity at the Mount can lead to careers in technology, security software, defense, government, teaching, e-commerce, banking, finance, business, and more.
Human Computer Interaction: This new concentration within the Mount’s Information Technology major allows students to study the effects of technology on human life from a holistic perspective. Combining courses in Information Technology, Psychology, and Mathematics provides the opportunity view technology from an analytical stance and offer solutions for it to better benefit the people who use it. Students in this concentration are prepared to enter careers in technology consulting, user experience, front-end design and development, and more.
Exercise Science: The Exercise Science major will immerse students in the workings of the body, its needs under physical and emotional stress, and how these factors affect life. Coursework will include training in exercise physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics, nutrition, and injury prevention. Graduates of the program will be primed for careers in health and wellness, such as nutrition, public health, health education, and fitness. They will also be ready to begin graduate studies in athletic training, physical or occupational therapy, and even MD or OD degree programs.
