Although it sounds like a luxury, working from home is no small feat. It can be difficult to focus, stay motivated, and be productive. But here are some tips and tricks to make sure you are getting the most out of your workday.

  1. Get dressed:
I know, I know. This sounds simple, but it really makes all the difference. Getting up and going through your normal routine of picking an outfit out and getting ready can really kick-start your day. Staying in sweatpants all day may seem like a comfy dream but staying in lounge clothes will make your brain want to lounge. An object (or person in this case) at rest, stays at rest.
  2. Set up a designated work spot:
One of the number one studying tips we learn from the Office of Student Success at MSMC is DO NOT STUDY IN BED. Make your bed a relaxation zone. If you do work in your relaxation zone, your brain won’t relax when you’re there, or your brain will only relax while you’re there. Make sure to set up a designated spot to do all of your work.
  3. Follow the ultimate study playlist:
I cannot do work in silence. I need some sort of background noise or music to catapult me into productivity. I think listen to instrumentals keep your mind from thinking about lyrics and just focus on the work in front of you. There is no science behind this, but it has worked so far for me. I made a Spotify playlist for WFH (Working From Home) and studying.

Working from home may not be the easiest thing to do, but with these tips, hopefully you can get through a work day like a breeze.
