It’s the ultimate resident question: What do I need to bring to college?

Here’s the ultimate list of what you do (and don’t!) need to bring to campus.

What’s provided

  • Bed (with ability to adjust height, so no need for floor risers, and loft one per room)
  • Mattress (twin extra-long)
  • Desk and chair
  • Closet
  • Dresser
  • Shower curtain
  • Shades
  • Equipped with wireless internet service, air conditioning, and cable outlets
  • Each residence hall has lounge areas with televisions and access to laundry facilities and common area kitchens. 

What you’ll need

Bed & Bath

  • Alarm clock (with battery backup)
  • Bathroom floor mat
  • Bathroom necessities (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, basic toiletries)
  • Blankets
  • Comforter
  • Extra long twin size sheets (36” x 80”)
  • Pillows/pillowcases
  • Towels
  • Toilet paper

Laundry

  • Bleach/Measuring cup
  • Clothes hangers
  • Detergent/Fabric softener
  • Drying rack
  • Ironing Board/Iron with auto shutoff
  • Laundry bag/basket

Optional

  • Area Rug
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Desk/table lamp
  • Fan(s)
  • First-aid supplies
  • Full-length mirror
  • Mattress pad
  • School supplies
  • Small vacuum/broom/dustpan
  • UL Listed Surge protector

General Items

  • Desktop/Laptop computer

  • Television (TVs must have built-in Digital QAM Tuner to receive cable channels)
  • Microfridge (If you are interested in ordering a micro-fridge, you can do so by contacting the Micro Fridge company, at their website, www.mymicrofridge.com For residents of Sakac Hall, we ask that you only have one micro fridge per bedroom.) 
  • Any prescriptions/medications

What not to bring (aka prohibited items)

  • Air conditioners
  • Anything with an exposed heating element
  • Bed risers
  • Candles or incense
  • Cinder block(s)
  • E-cigarettes/Hookah pipes/Vape
  • Freezers
  • George Forman grills or similar type grills
  • Halogen lamps/plastic lamp covers
  • Hot plates
  • Hoverboards
  • No refrigerator larger than 3.6 cu ft.
  • Personal microwave ovens
  • Pets (except fish, 5 gallons or less)
  • String lights
  • Tapestry
  • Toaster ovens/Toasters
  • Weapons of any kind
