In a unanimous vote of the Mount Saint Mary College Board of Trustees, Fr. Gregoire Fluet has been named Interim President of the college, effective immediately.
At the beginning of September, Fr. Fluet assumed the role of Acting President of the college. In just a few weeks, Fr. Fluet has shown that he is a capable and caring leader, explained Michael Horodyski, Chair of the Mount’s Board of Trustees.
“We are grateful to Fr. Greg for stepping into this crucial interim role,” said Horodyski. “It was clear to the Board of Trustees that he is the ideal candidate to serve as Interim President while we embark on a national search for Mount Saint Mary College’s eighth president. His deep passion for the Mount, genuine devotion to serving students, and utmost respect for the college’s Dominican traditions and values make him uniquely qualified to guide us through the challenges and opportunities that exist in this period of transition.
The college’s planned timeline for finding its next president remains the same. The board will soon launch a national search campaign to find a highly-qualified president for the Mount.
Fr. Fluet brings a wealth of experience and institutional knowledge, as well as an unwavering commitment to service and the Mount’s students, to the Interim President role. Throughout his time at the Mount, Fr. Fluet has supported the college community on all levels: counseling, connecting, and cheering students on.
“We are extremely pleased that Fr. Greg has agreed to serve as Interim President of this wonderful institution,” said Horodyski. “His work as Campus Chaplain, Director of Campus Ministry, and most recently as Acting President, embodies the pillars of Dominican life that are so integral to Mount Saint Mary College: Community, Study, Service, and Spirituality.”
Fr. Fluet was ordained a priest in 1982, and has an MDiv and an MA (Theology, Church History) from St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, Mass. He also has an MA (American History) and a PhD (History) from Clark University.
