When it came time for Emily Moore of Montgomery, N.Y. to receive her diploma at Mount Saint Mary College’s 60th annual Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 20, it wasn’t college president Dr. Jason Adsit who presented it to her – it was her father, Brian Moore.

That moment marked the culmination of a journey the family started together four years ago. In August of 2019, Brian, director of Purchasing at the Mount, helped his daughter to move into the Sakac Hall residence hall on campus.

Emily had selected the Mount for its prestigious Education program. On that summer move-in day, her enthusiasm was apparent: “I’m really excited,” she said. “The Mount’s got a great Education program.”

And on the day of Commencement, Emily was just as passionate about her future.

“I loved student teaching and I learned so much from all my teachers,” she said. “They really helped me to integrate myself in to the classroom. I’m really excited to start my career.”

Emily Moore of Montgomery, N.Y., an Education student at Mount Saint Mary College, moved into Sakac Hall on August 25, 2019 with a little help from her father, Brian Moore, director of Purchasing at the college.
