Nicole Bosi-Oliveira, a fifth-grade teacher at Little Britain Elementary School and Mount Saint Mary College alumna, recently earned the Teacher Excellence Award from the Mid-Hudson School Study Council.

Oliveira was recognized for her dedication to students, leadership within the school community and commitment to creating meaningful learning experiences both in and beyond the classroom. In addition to her classroom teaching, she is active in the school's extracurricular activities, serving as a coach for the district's Odyssey of the Mind program.

“I’m deeply honored to receive this recognition, but the real joy comes from working with our students every day,” she explained. “Teaching is far more  than delivering lessons - it is about inspiring growth, building confidence, encouraging curiosity, and creating a supportive environment where students can reach their full potential. Every day in the classroom is an opportunity to learn, lead, and make a positive impact, and I am grateful to be part of that journey. Teaching at Little Britain means being part of a community that truly cares about helping every child feel seen, supported, and excited to learn – whether that happens during a classroom lesson, an Odyssey of the Mind practice, or an after-school club.”

Oliveira, who has taught at Little Britain Elementary School since 2017, was praised by fellow community members for the strong relationships she builds with students and her ability to create a classroom environment where students feel supported, engaged and encouraged to grow as learners.

Letters submitted on her behalf highlighted her thoughtful instructional approach and commitment to meeting the needs of all students. Colleagues also recognized her for fostering a classroom culture rooted in respect, responsibility and collaboration.

Outside the classroom, Oliveira serves as an advisor for several student activities and enrichment opportunities, including Homework Club, Yearbook Club, Little Britain Ambassadors program, and an Odyssey of the Mind coach. She was also recognized for mentoring new teachers and supporting school wide initiatives aimed at strengthening school culture and student experiences.
