Mount Saint Mary College and Marist University have partnered to create two new direct admission pathways for Mount undergraduate students aiming for careers in physical therapy or athletic training.
The agreements provide an early acceptance opportunity into Marist’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) programs.
The new DPT and MSAT Direct Admit Pathways offer a seamless transition for eligible students. The early acceptance ensures students can confidently plan their academic journey to graduate school.
To be eligible for the DPT pathway, students must be on track to graduate from the Mount with a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA and a 3.2 GPA in their DPT science prerequisite courses. They must also submit two letters of recommendation and complete at least 40 documented clinical observation hours in the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS).
The MSAT pathway requires a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and a 3.0 overall science GPA, with no prerequisite course grade below C. Additionally, students must complete at least 60 hours of volunteer or work-related athletic training experience in a minimum of two different settings under the supervision of a Certified Athletic Trainer, and submit two letters of recommendation.
“This collaboration with Marist University highlights our commitment to providing students with exceptional opportunities to continue their education,” said Evan Merkhofer, Vice President for Academic Affairs at the Mount. “These direct admission pathways will allow our dedicated and high-achieving students to secure their spot in a top-tier graduate program and continue their path to a successful career.”
The Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Marist University is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). The Master of Science in Athletic Training program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).
