Mount Saint Mary College has been awarded a $267,705 Higher Education Capital Matching Grant (HECap) through the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY).
The award supports a comprehensive Mount infrastructure initiative replacing obsolete heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning systems with modern, energy-efficient units across three core buildings on the college’s Newburgh campus.
Awarded under HECap’s 3:1 matching program, the overhaul will provide consistent temperature regulation, increased fresh-air circulation, and high-efficiency filtration.
The upgrades are especially critical in Aquinas Hall, where nursing and science students do their clinical and lab work. Advanced experiments and patient simulation suites require tight control over airflow and humidity to protect sensitive equipment, keep conditions sterile, and meet strict accreditation standards.
Work on the project has already begun.
