The Mount Saint Mary College Class of 2029 took part in an unforgettable campus scavenger hunt on Friday, September 5. Students competed to learn more about the college and on-campus resources available to them, helping the freshmen to prepare for their next four years at the Mount.
Nearly 200 Mount Saint Mary College freshmen kicked off their weekends with a race, competing in the Great First-Year Scavenger Hunt across campus on Friday, September 5.
Organized by the Mount’s Center for Academic and Career Services (CACS), the scavenger hunt served to familiarize the college’s newest students with important offices and people on campus, while creating memorable experiences through team-based activities.
The entire Freshman class worked in color-coded teams – and against the clock – to complete activities in five locations on campus in just 55 minutes. Once located, the teams completed an activity before moving on to the next location. These activities included learning how to make citations in the Kaplan Family Library, immersing themselves in Mount history, and more.
The Center for Academic and Career Services is a comprehensive support system for all Mount students. The Center offers a dual approach, providing both academic guidance and career preparation. On the academic side, counselors help with everything from writing skills to test-taking strategies and offer tutoring. From a career standpoint, CACS assists students with résumé building, finding internships, and navigating the job market, all with the goal of preparing them for a successful life after graduation.
