Mount Saint Mary College freshmen and Bishop Dunn Memorial School students work together to plant flowers in the Sensory Garden on the Mount campus as part of the college's First-Year Experience (FYE) program.
Mount Saint Mary College freshmen recently got their hands dirty for a good cause, helping students from Bishop Dunn Memorial School plant cheerful mums in the Sensory Garden on Monday, September 15.
The collaborative event was part of the college’s First-Year Experience (FYE) program, designed to help new students acclimate to campus life and the local community.
The Sensory Garden is a unique outdoor learning space: a green classroom that serves students from pre-kindergarten to college at both the Mount and Bishop Dunn.
The recent planting session fostered a fun, hands-on opportunity for the older students to mentor the younger ones, all while beautifying the campus.
This event is just one of many ways the two schools work together. Located on the Mount campus, Bishop Dunn Memorial School was founded in 1883 and is committed to the academic, spiritual, emotional, social, and physical development of children from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Mount Education students often do fieldwork at the school, benefiting from the guidance of seasoned Bishop Dunn faculty.
