New graduates of Mount Saint Mary College were recognized for their dedication to academics and the campus community on Tuesday, May 11 during the annual Senior Awards ceremony.

More than two dozen deserving senior students received awards.

Edward Arnold of Southampton, N.Y. was the recipient of the Thomas J. Conlon Memorial Award, which is given to a senior student who has shown outstanding leadership in Student Government. Among his many service projects, Arnold and his fellow Student Government Association members mentored the fifth-grade class of Bishop Dunn Memorial School. As classes for both institutions moved online, so too did their mentorship meetings.

Dajon Atkins of Middletown, N.Y. and Nicholas Tucker of the Bronx, N.Y. earned the Senior Award for Outstanding Service. This award is for seniors who have devoted much of their time and energy to serving their classmates, the college community, and the community at large throughout their four years at the Mount.

Sharee Powell of New York City earned the Mount Saint Mary College Award, which is for a senior who has maintained a high standard of academic performance and a spirit of cooperation, leadership, and loyal service, and is representative of what a Mount student exemplifies.

Katelynn Whitfield of Garden City, N.Y. was the recipient of the Father Michael J. Gilleece Memorial Award, which is given to a senior who has a great academic average; is a person of high moral character who exemplifies Judeo-Christian values in their everyday life; and who has worked unselfishly for the development of the human potential of their fellow Mount students.

Senior Class Award for Service and Involvement in the Community was awarded to:

  • Hallie Benson of Miller Place, N.Y.
  • Emily Dee of Garden City South, N.Y.
  • Alyssa DiMare of Staten Island, N.Y.
  • Kelly Giana of Berlin, Conn.
  • Arianna Martuscello of Clifton Park, N.Y.
  • Sydney Natkiel of Salisbury Mills, N.Y.
  • Gabriella Rafaniello of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Senior Class Awards for Outstanding Leadership recipients were:

  • Kristian Alvaran of Middletown, N.Y.
  • Nicole Cervone of Shirley, N.Y.
  • Kerry DeFelice of Ansonia, Conn.
  • Rebecca Goldberg of Massapequa Park, N.Y.
  • Christiana Kerrs of Wappingers Falls, N.Y.
  • Juliana Kozman of Orangeburg, N.Y.
  • Christian Lorenzo of Staten Island, N.Y.
  • Madeline Mullen of Monroe Township, N.J.
  • Daley O'Keefe of Marlborough, Conn.
  • Margaret Seely of Berwick, Pa.
  • Katherine Smith of Goshen, N.Y.

  • Fit Life earned the Extra Mile Award
  • Active Minds earned the Act of Kindness Award
  • Allies earned the Diversity Education Award
