Mount Saint Mary College students had the opportunity to explore careers in law enforcement during a recruitment event hosted by the Center for Academic and Career Success (CACS) on Tuesday, March 17.

The event featured New York State Police Trooper Briana Gigante, who met with students to discuss internship opportunities and career paths within the State Police.

Among students seeking professional insight was Faith Welsh of Goshen, N.Y., a junior social science major, discussed the application of social science in modern policing with Gigante.

This recruitment event was part of a broader initiative by CACS to ensure that Mount students discover their specific professional callings before graduation. By bringing recruiters directly to the campus, CACS provides students with the experience necessary to build confidence in their clinical and professional skills.

The CACS is dedicated to empowering Knights to take the next step in their professional journeys. Through events like these, CACS helps students:

  • Discover Career Specialties: Moving beyond classroom theory to understand what a day-to-day career actually looks like.
  • Build Professional Networks: Connecting directly with recruiters and alumni through on-campus career fairs and tabling events.
  • Establish Direct Pathways: Creating opportunities for internships and job placements that align with the Mount’s mission of community service.
