Celebrating nearly two decades of athletic excellence, Mount Saint Mary College welcomed five new members into its Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, April 25.
The Class of 2026 features standouts from the tennis courts, the lacrosse field, the cross-country trails, and more.
The induction ceremony, held in the Elaine and William Kaplan Recreation Center, honored the achievements of Michelle Carnovale ’20, Joseph Dolan ’20, Katie Gattoni ’17, Christopher McGorty ’19, and Nicole Zazzero ’14. These five individuals were recognized not only for their record-breaking statistics and conference accolades, but for their lasting impact on the culture of the Knights’ athletic programs.
Michelle Carnovale ’20 (Women’s Tennis): One of the most dominant tennis players in program history, Carnovale’s career was defined by a staggering winning percentage and multiple Skyline Conference Player of the Year honors. Her composure at the number one singles position served as the engine for the Knights’ success during her four years on the court.
Joseph Dolan ’20 (Men’s Soccer): Dolan was a defensive anchor and a tactical leader for the Men’s Soccer team. His ability to control the pace of the game and his defensive reliability were instrumental in the Knights’ post-season runs, earning him numerous all-conference selections and the respect of opponents across the Skyline.
Katie Gattoni ’17 (Women’s Soccer/Lacrosse): A rare two-sport standout, Gattoni left an indelible mark on both the soccer and lacrosse programs. On the soccer field, her offensive prowess made her one of the most feared strikers in the region, while her transition to the lacrosse field saw her become a vital playmaker and leading scorer for the Knights.
Christopher McGorty ’19 (Men’s Tennis): A cornerstone of the Men’s Tennis program, McGorty was a perennial force in the Skyline Conference. Known for his resilience in singles play and leadership as a multi-year captain, his contributions helped elevate the program’s competitive standing throughout his four-year career.
Nicole Zazzero ’14 (Women’s Cross Country): Zazzero represents one of the most decorated eras of Knights distance running. A consistent top-finisher in the Skyline Conference Championships, her endurance and dedication set the standard for the program during her tenure, leading the team to several high-profile finishes and establishing multiple personal bests that remain among the school’s top times.
The Mount Saint Mary College Athletic Hall of Fame was established to recognize those individuals who have made significant contributions to the prestige of the College through their participation in intercollegiate athletics. With the addition of the Class of 2026, the Hall of Fame continues to preserve the history and tradition of the Knights.
