Mount Saint Mary College has again been recognized as a top school by the U.S. News Best Colleges rankings, this time across six categories, both nationally and regionally.
On U.S. News and World Report’s comprehensive lists of top-tier regional universities for 2027, the Mount placed among the top 70 institutions in the category of Regional Universities (North), coming in at number 68 (tied). This marks an improvement of four spots over the college’s standing last year. These annual rankings evaluate overall academic quality, highlighting factors such as first-year retention, student performance, graduation outcomes, and related metrics. The Mount consistently earns top-tier placement in these yearly evaluations.
New this year, the Mount earned a spot among the Top Private Schools – Regional Universities (North), securing a tie at number 50. This distinction isolates private, independent institutions within the northern region, spotlighting colleges that deliver academic excellence without public state funding. The category evaluates schools on key institutional benchmarks – including graduation outcomes, faculty resources, student-to-faculty ratios, and graduate success – highlighting private universities that offer dedicated student support and focused educational environments.
U.S. News and World Report also recognized the Mount as a standout in the category of Social Mobility, Regional Universities North, placing at number 89. This category measures an institution's success in graduating students who receive federal Pell Grants, who typically come from economically disadvantaged households. In addition, the college was named a Best Value School, Regional Universities North, ranking at number 51. This honor is based on academic quality weighed against total cost of attendance, factoring in tuition, fees, and financial aid opportunities.
The Mount was also honored as a Best College for Veterans, Regional Universities North, clocking in at number 34 – which is 11 spots higher than last year. This ranking considers a school’s participation in key federal programs that aid veterans and service members, such as the GI Bill, along with overall academic quality and the number of enrolled veterans.
Like in previous years, the Mount was named a top school in the national ranking of Best Undergraduate Nursing programs, clocking in at number 336 (tied). Mount Nursing students benefit from state-of-the-art simulation labs and learning resources, clinical relationships with dozens of area hospitals, and passionate faculty. They consistently score higher than the state average on the NCLEX-RN test.
Located 60 miles north of New York City, the Mount offers bachelor's degree programs preparing students for careers in Healthcare, Business, Education, Social Services, Communication/Media, and more. Master's degree programs include options in Nursing, Business, and Education.
