Mount Saint Mary College Nursing students added another tool to their life-saving repertoire on Wednesday, October 22, at a training session for administering naloxone, an anti-opioid overdose medication.

The event was hosted by the Mount’s Student Nurses’ Association (SNA).

Naloxone – often known by the brand name Narcan – comes in the form of a nasal spray or a needle. It temporarily reverses the effects of opioids, buying caregivers more time to seek medical attention in the event of an overdose.

In addition to those who attended the recent event, hundreds of Mount students and faculty have been certified in the use of the medicine over the course of several such trainings at the college.
