Michael L. Fox, assistant professor of Business Law and Pre-Law advisor at Mount Saint Mary College, was recently named the new chair of the Advisory Board for the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley.

As chair, Fox will assist in setting agendas and running Advisory Board meetings, organizing community outreach, and attending events in support of the Food Bank’s initiatives.

As a branch of the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley serves six counties of the Lower Hudson Valley area, including Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Putnam and Rockland.

“Food insecurity is a grave problem, right here in our backyards,” Fox said, which he attributes to the difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic and the current high inflation rates. “I am fortunate and proud to contribute in some small way to the great work of this wonderful organization.”

Typically, Fox says, the Food Bank can provide as many as four meals for those in need, with every $1 donation.

He added, “I’m also excited to see the continued development and building of the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley’s new home, offices, and distribution center in Montgomery. This will increase the capacity of the FBHV’s work here in the Hudson Valley.”

The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley will hold bi-monthly Advisory Board meetings in the Mount Saint Mary College School of Business conference room, which Fox hopes will help maintain a strong relationship between the two organizations.

Fox earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude, from Bucknell University, with a major in Economics and minor in Biology. He also earned a Doctor of Law degree from Columbia University School of Law, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and an articles editor on Columbia Business Law Review. He is the author of several books, including his latest, A Guide to Diversity & Inclusion in the 21st Century Workplace, second edition.
