Mount Saint Mary College’s 45th Annual Golf and 12th Annual Tennis Invitational Tournament on Monday, June 5 earned approximately $144,000 for scholarships at the college – a record for the longstanding event.

Held at The Powelton Club in Newburgh, N.Y. (golf, tennis, and reception) and The Golf Club at Mansion Ridge in Monroe, N.Y. (golf), the event honored Meghan Taylor, MBA ’10, vice president, Government Affairs and Public Relations at Resorts World Casino. Hundreds of friends of the college came to support the Mount.

All donations and net proceeds will support the college’s Golf and Tennis Tournament Endowed Scholarship Fund, which in just a few years has gained a fair market value of more than $170,000. This scholarship is awarded to academically strong students with financial need, with preference given to students pursuing sports management, sports medicine, or similar fields.

In addition, Resorts World has established an annual scholarship for Mount students. This scholarship gives preference to local students with high financial need and demonstrates Resorts World’s commitment to the success of our local students and their families.

The event’s Platinum sponsor was Resorts World Casino. Gold Sponsors were Advance Testing Company, Inc., The Kaplan Foundation, Newburgh Mall, M&T Bank, Premier Diagnostic Services, Inc., Wallkill Valley Federal Savings and Loan Association, and William A. Smith & Son Insurance. Silver sponsors were D-Ben Security Systems, Inc., IBEW Local Union 363, The Palombo Group, Inc., and Elizabeth (Betsy) McCurdy/GTI Graphic Technology, Inc. Many other donors supported the raffle in which one winner walked about with $15,000, the wine pull, and more.
