Mount Saint Mary College’s 45th Annual Golf and 12th Annual Tennis Invitational Tournament on Monday, June 5 earned approximately $144,000 for scholarships at the college – a record for the longstanding event.
Held at The Powelton Club in Newburgh, N.Y. (golf, tennis, and reception) and The Golf Club at Mansion Ridge in Monroe, N.Y. (golf), the event honored Meghan Taylor, MBA ’10, vice president, Government Affairs and Public Relations at Resorts World Casino. Hundreds of friends of the college came to support the Mount.
All donations and net proceeds will support the college’s Golf and Tennis Tournament Endowed Scholarship Fund, which in just a few years has gained a fair market value of more than $170,000. This scholarship is awarded to academically strong students with financial need, with preference given to students pursuing sports management, sports medicine, or similar fields.
In addition, Resorts World has established an annual scholarship for Mount students. This scholarship gives preference to local students with high financial need and demonstrates Resorts World’s commitment to the success of our local students and their families.
The event’s Platinum sponsor was Resorts World Casino. Gold Sponsors were Advance Testing Company, Inc., The Kaplan Foundation, Newburgh Mall, M&T Bank, Premier Diagnostic Services, Inc., Wallkill Valley Federal Savings and Loan Association, and William A. Smith & Son Insurance. Silver sponsors were D-Ben Security Systems, Inc., IBEW Local Union 363, The Palombo Group, Inc., and Elizabeth (Betsy) McCurdy/GTI Graphic Technology, Inc. Many other donors supported the raffle in which one winner walked about with $15,000, the wine pull, and more.
About Meghan A. Taylor
Meghan A. Taylor currently serves as the Vice President of Government Affairs and Public Relations at Genting New York. Meghan joined the Genting team in May 2020.
In her role, Meghan directs Resorts World’s government affairs strategy, lobbying and advocacy on issues of strategic importance at the state and local levels for Resorts World Catskills, Resorts World New York City and Resorts World Hudson Valley. In addition, Meghan manages all aspects of public relations for Genting's New York State properties. She is responsible for establishing and maintaining open lines of communication between Resorts World and the public, including government officials, and increasing awareness of Resorts World through local news and media.
Previously, as the Vice President and Regional Director of Empire State Development's (ESD) Mid-Hudson Regional Office, Meghan led the State’s implementation of economic development programs and initiatives for the seven county Hudson Valley Region. She oversaw sourcing, originating, developing and guiding new projects to promote the economic vitality of the region, attracting significant private investment and supporting job creation. In addition, Meghan established and maintained lines of communication and strong relationships with all local and state elected officials, corporate executives, nonprofit leaders and community groups.
Meghan has more than a decade of leadership experience in government affairs and public relations. Prior to joining ESD, she served as President of the Putnam County Economic Development Corporation and Director of Business Attraction at the Orange County Partnership.
She holds a Master of Business Administration from Mount Saint Mary College and a Bachelor of Finance from SUNY Binghamton.
