Mount Saint Mary College Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach Mike Lowell has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Coach of the Year.
The prestigious regional honor marks the second time Lowell has captured the ECAC Coach of the Year award during his tenure at the helm of the Knights. This recognition follows on the heels of his selection as the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year, capping off a historic awards season for the program.
Lowell’s excellent leadership was on full display this spring as he guided a 13-player roster through a grueling campaign to achieve one of the finest seasons in program history. Undeterred by the short-handed roster, the Knights charged to a program-best 6-2 record in conference play, ultimately finishing the season with a stellar 7-5 overall record.
Now in his eighth season leading the program, Lowell’s impact extends beyond the sidelines. In addition to his role as Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach, he serves the Mount’s athletic department as Assistant Athletic Director and NCAA Compliance Officer. His steady stewardship has guided the Knights through key program milestones, transforming the squad into a consistent postseason contender.
Before taking the reins as head coach, Lowell spent five seasons as an assistant coach for the Knights, specializing in goalkeeper development and strategic game planning. Since being elevated to the head coaching role, he has engineered a culture of excellence, mentoring multiple All-Conference selections and cultivating an environment where student-athletes thrive both on the field and in the classroom.
Beyond the team’s collective success this season, Lowell’s mentorship helped elevate individual talent across the field. Under his guidance, five Knights earned All-Conference selections this year: Briana Fassett of New Milford, Conn., Shannon McGowan of Farmingdale, N.Y., Delisianna Naccarato of Kingston, N.Y., Kasey Senior of Beacon, N.Y., and Danica Valente of Highland, N.Y.
