Mount Saint Mary College transformed the Hudson Hall parking lot into a vibrant Halloween haven on Friday, October 30, welcoming students, faculty, staff, and local Newburgh-area families for the college’s annual Trunk-or-Treat celebration.
Hosted by the Office of Student Life and First-Year Experience (FYE), the family-friendly tradition brought the community together for an evening of festive costumes, sweet treats, snacks, and plenty of Halloween spirit. Campus clubs, academic departments, athletic teams, and staff volunteers brought their creativity to life, decking out open car trunks and decorated display tables to create a fun, safe trick-or-treating circuit for neighborhood children.
The evening also featured friendly campus rivalry with the annual Trunk and Table Decorating Contest, judged by attendees.
Taking the coveted top spot this year was the student club Get Creative, whose elaborate Pirate-themed display captured first place with an impressive 46 votes. Second-place honors went to Alyssa VanLeuven of Accord, N.Y. and Amani Hinton of Brooklyn, N.Y. for their spirited Ghostbusters setup, while Brianne Thompson, Senior Director of the Center for Academic and Career Services at the Mount, earned third place with a Peanuts/Sonic the Hedgehog crossover design.
Adding to the seasonal festivities was the Employee Affairs Committee's annual Pumpkin Carving Contest, which showcased the impressive artistic talents and craftsmanship of Mount faculty and staff. Following a lively round of voting from Mount faculty, staff, and trunk-or-treat participants, Dan Mcloughlin (Maintenance) took first place with his winning gourd, Cutberto Perez (Grounds) earned second place, and Adam Skura (Marketing) secured third place.
Organizers extended a heartfelt thank-you to everyone across the Mount community who dropped off candy donations, volunteered their time, and cheered on their peers to make this year's event an unforgettable success for campus and neighbors alike.
