Mount students get hands-on lesson in aquatic life at Quassaic Creek

Doug Robinson, associate professor of Biology at Mount Saint Mary College, and students in his Ecology class explored the Quassaick Creek at Cronomer Park in Newburgh, N.Y. on October 1. The students examined aquatic insect larvae, pursued and captured crayfish, learned about the Devonian-era fossils dotting the creek bed, and discussed the reliance of terrestrial organisms on aquatic systems.

“The afternoon’s goal of investigating the ecological relationships discussed in class literally meant getting some feet wet!” said Robinson.
