Nearly a dozen Mount Saint Mary College students took a major step in their faith journeys on Sunday, April 12 by receiving the holy sacraments of initiation.
The ceremony, held in the Chapel of the Most Holy Rosary on campus, was the culmination of months of preparation and spiritual reflection.
The Most Rev. Dominick J. Lagonegro celebrated the Mass with Fr. Gregoire Fluet, Vice President for Mission and Ministry at the Mount.
Fr. Fluet offered words of encouragement to the group: “Congratulations to those who received the Sacrament of Confirmation. God bless you!”
During the service, Devin Lanzer of Lindenhurst, N.Y. and alumnus Michael DiGiovanni ’23 of Shirley, N.Y. were formally received into the Catholic Church and celebrated their First Communion, while Jacqueline Machua of Highland, N.Y., who was baptized on April 10, received her First Holy Communion.
They were joined by classmates John Paul Corini of Washingtonville, N.Y., Beatrice Jean of Monroe, N.Y., Kyanna Joseph of Queens, N.Y., Emily Schneider of Washingtonville, N.Y., Grace MacDonald of Concord, N.H., Bianca Beriguete of Beacon, N.Y., and alumna Emeilia Palacios-Pepi ’21 of Newburgh, N.Y., who each received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
