Image Making is an alternative approach to teaching writing and strengthening reading. The process uses picture books as mentor texts to help teach the art of writing. Students create carefully crafted picture books, often tied to the science or social studies curriculum, using their own portfolio of hand-painted papers. The art always precedes the writing.

This year’s workshop will focus on reconstructing family immigration stories and is ideal for use with students in grades 2 to 12. No art experience is necessary.

The cost for the workshop is $1,285. Graduate credit is available for an additional fee. Contact or call 845-569-3431 for more information and registration options.
