Picturing Writing is a dynamic art-and-literature-based approach to writing designed to meet the needs of the students with diverse learning styles. Through the use of simple hands-on art experiences, the study of quality picture books, and an on-going Artist/Writers Workshop, this innovative approach to literacy learning gives students access to multiple modalities for thinking and expressing their ideas. It allows all students to enter the reading and writing process from a position of personal strength and enthusiasm. Picturing Writing provides an enticing, year-round, alternative pathway into literacy learning guaranteed to engage reluctant readers and writers.
