Mount Saint Mary College recently completed a major, professional-grade overhaul of its TV Studio in Aquinas Hall, significantly enhancing the learning and production capabilities for students in the college’s Digital Media Production program.

The studio’s transformation establishes a full 4K workflow with upgraded cameras, ensuring that students train on the highest industry standard equipment.

Notable technical installations include a new state-of-the-art vMix switcher and a professional LED lighting grid, which dramatically improves performance for green screen productions and virtual sets. The studio now features enhanced audio capabilities, making it a powerful resource for dedicated student podcasting and sound design projects.

Emphasizing future-leaning media creation, the upgrades integrate a new cloud-based system. This system allows for seamless remote livestreaming, professional caller integration (enabling live interviews with guests anywhere in the world), and direct mobile streaming capability, preparing students for the dynamic, decentralized nature of modern media broadcasting.

“The revamped MSMC TV Studio provides our Digital Media Production students with an unparalleled environment to create,” said Merle Becker, instructor of Digital Media Production at the college. “They are working in a studio that mirrors industry standards, giving them a critical edge as they enter careers in broadcasting, digital production, and creative communications.”

This studio investment directly benefits the college’s growing Digital Media Production program, which empowers students to master the tools and techniques shaping today’s media landscape.

Students pursuing majors like Digital Media Production and Visual Communication–Graphic Design gain intensive hands-on experience in areas such as audio and video production, design, and social media strategy. The newly upgraded studio provides a real-world environment for students to develop visual literacy, creative thinking, and innovative problem-solving – skills sharpened through internships with regional agencies and production studios.
