Professional Development and Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE)

In New York State, teachers must complete 100 hours of Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) credits every 5 years to maintain certification. As an approved CTLE provider, Mount Saint Mary College is pleased to offer graduate-level education courses to local teachers as CTLE credits. Keep up with current practices, expand your pedagogical tool set, and fulfill the NYSED requirement by taking these courses at Mount Saint Mary College.

*To apply any of these course credits toward an academic degree, students must apply to the graduate program in which they intend to pursue a degree and pay the difference between the cost of the course and the listed tuition rate.

FAQ
Each course at Mount Saint Mary College fulfills 45 hours towards the 100 hours required by New York State.

Certified teachers or teaching assistants who hold a professional teacher or educational leader certificate or a Level III Teaching Assistant certificate can apply these courses towards CTLE requirements.
We offer two types of courses: asynchronous online and hybrid. Asynchronous online courses do not have set meeting times and are fully self-paced. Hybrid courses meet one day per week, with the remaining components of the course online.
Each course takes 8 weeks to complete.
It is expected that each student will spend at least 45 hours, including any in-person classes, on each course. This may vary student-to-student based on assignments outside of class.
A certificate will be provided to each student upon completion, and a copy will be kept on file for 7 years. Students are responsible for logging their CTLE hours on their TEACH account.
Yes, Mount Saint Mary College will provide a certificate of completion and a transcript. We will also maintain a record of your completed CTLE courses.
