Children from Bishop Dunn Memorial School donned their Halloween costumes and went trick-or-treating – with a little help from Mount Saint Mary College’s athletics teams – on Friday, October 31.

Parents of Bishop Dunn students filled the school’s gymnasium with a variety of themed tables, from films like K-Pop Demon Hunters to Monsters, Inc., and everything in-between. Parents handed out candy in full costume, including characters from Wicked, classic ghosts and goblins, and even Amy Rose from Sonic the Hedgehog, complete with inflatable hammer.

Outside on the basketball court, the late October chill didn’t stop Mount athletes from each of the college’s 20-plus teams from handing out candy to Bishop Dunn students.

The young students went from station to station, collecting candy and showing off their costumes. Mount student-athletes and coaches, Bishop Dunn faculty, and parents cooperated to bring the event to life.

Bishop Dunn, on the Mount campus, was founded in 1883. The school is committed to the academic, spiritual, emotional, social, and physical development of children, pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.

The college maintains a close relationship with Bishop Dunn. Mount Education students do fieldwork at the school, under the guidance of seasoned Bishop Dunn faculty. Many Mount grads go on to work at Bishop Dunn, including Principal Nancy Benfer ’04.
