Mount Saint Mary College transformed the Hudson Hall parking lot into a Halloween haven for its annual Trunk-or-Treat event on Sunday, October 26.

The fun, family-friendly afternoon welcomed more than 250 attendees, including students, faculty, staff, and of course, costumed youngsters from Newburgh and beyond. Attendees enjoyed prizes and candy, and ate about 200 hot dogs in just over an hour.

Children and their parents visited more than 20 decorated trunks, with themes ranging from Frankenstein’s monster to The Wizard of Oz.

Attendees snagged candy from a long list of student clubs and athletic teams, including the Mount’s Baseball Team, the Cheer Squad, the Latino Student Union, the Performing Arts Society, the Esports Club, the Volleyball team, the Get Creative Club, and the Leadership Scholars, along with many spirited individual students.

Several campus offices got in on the action as well, including Disability Services, First-Year Experience, and the Center for Academic and Career Services. Rounding out the lineup were community partners like Habitat for Humanity, Raising Solo, and Affinity. The college’s Desmond Center for Community Engagement and Wellness helped to advertise the event and recruit the community participants, as well as sponsoring the hot dogs.

The champions of the Trunk Decorating Contest were Janice Werba (first place), the Get Creative Club (second place), and the Performing Arts Society (third place).
