Four years ago, twins Eleni and Stefanie Drautz of East Northport, N.Y. started their academic careers at Mount Saint Mary College. Now the sisters are looking forward to taking on the challenges of grad school together as well.

The Drautz sisters, who were both Human Services majors at the Mount, will begin earning master’s degrees in Social Work at SUNY Stony Brook stating this fall. The sisters thanked Robin Rosenberg, a career counselor with college’s Career Center, for helping them to polish their résumés and applications, and Psychology professors Paul Schwartz and Lawrence Force for writing them recommendations.

Both are leaning towards jobs in the medical field, such as being social workers in a hospital, or something in the behavioral health field.

“We feel happy that we were able to figure out what we wanted to do after graduating with our bachelor’s, however we were not always certain,” revealed the sisters. “It definitely helped to talk to a lot of different people [at the Mount] and hear advice and opinions on what we should do.”

Choosing the Mount together was no coincidence, said the Drautz sisters: They applied to almost all the same schools, took college tours together, and both fell in love with the Mount at the same time. The sisters only wound up rooming together in their senior year, but they were named to the college’s Dean’s List together several times, were members of the Love Your Melon club on campus (which raises money to help fight cancer), and both joined the Human Services Honor Society, Tau Upsilon Alpha.

Going to the same college “was definitely a lot of fun, especially entering a new school and living away from home with a built-in best friend,” explained the Drautz twins. “We had a lot of classes together because our majors are the same, but we took many different electives that interested each of us.”

Though they’re excited to move on to the next chapter of their lives, the twins will miss much about their Mount Saint Mary College experience.

“It has been a great four years here and every memory will be cherished,” they said. “We will miss seeing our friends every day and being right down the hall from everyone. Being able to walk to class or grab lunch or dinner in the dining hall with your friends is something that we will most definitely miss! Just being able to spend countless hours with your friends, whether it was studying in the library, hanging in our rooms, or going out, there was always something for us all to do [including] on campus events that gathered everyone together, which was always fun.”
