Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a concentration in Sports Journalism

Journalism is a vast field that allows professional writers to build a career reporting on their passion.   • Mount professor Regina Pappalardo teaching a class.Journalism background: Our Sports Journalism program is a concentration within the Journalism major. You'll be taught the fundamentals of journalism, with a focus on how to become a skilled sports reporter.
  • Sports scene: The Mount is located in close proximity to an amazing number of sports businesses, from professional franchises in New York City to industry leaders like ESPN, hundreds of collegiate athletic programs, and thousands of smaller private businesses that service the needs of athletes from youth leagues to the major leagues. What to expect as a Sports Journalism student?

15 credits in Sports Journalism | C or better in CMA 2020 to continue | Maintain 2.0+ GPA

You'll begin your Journalism major with foundational courses intended to prepare you for the Journalism field. Then your courses will shift toward a focus in areas specific to sports reporting, including but not limited to play-by-play, remote production, and color commentary. You will also learn the role journalists play in our society and how that role specifically applies to the sports industry.

Be prepared for your future

After graduation you'll be ready to take on the Journalism field as a sports reporter. With the $200 billion sports industry in need of talented storytellers to cover and analyze sports, as well as promote teams, players, and leagues – the Mount's Sports Journalism concentration will give you the grounding you need to cover all things sport.
