Are you looking to meet the needs of Multilingual Learners in your classroom? Complete the Advanced Certificate in TESOL in a one-year accelerated program. This 5-course program is designed to provide certified teachers and administrators with a solid background and expertise in serving the needs of Multilingual Learners. Many school districts in New York are adding specially designed instruction for Multilingual Learner students, and certification in TESOL is required in order to teach in those programs.
This program is ideal for certified teachers and administrators who already hold a Master’s Degree.

Complete in as little as 1 year: The Advanced Certificate in TESOL can be completed in as little as 1 year. With a fall start date, you will take two courses per semester, with 10 hours of fieldwork per course, followed by a seminar in the summer and 50 field hours.

The Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TSEOL) program is designed to provide NYS certified teachers with the essential skills and understanding to meet the needs of multilingual learners. This 15-credit advanced certificate is designed for teachers to complete fieldwork in their own classrooms along with an assigned mentor. This program will prepare educators to understand and implement equitable and effective ways of working with English Language Learners (ELLs) in a variety of context, including inclusion in content/general education classes, sheltered-ESL classes, and pullout classes. This program will lead to NYS ESOL teacher certification.
