Mount Saint Mary College is proud to welcome three new members to its Board of Trustees: Sr. Constance Kelly ’84 MSEd ’95, OP, of Croton on Hudson, N.Y.; Sr. Patricia E. Magee ’81 MSEd ’88, OP, of Ossining, N.Y.; and Michael Catania, JD, of Newburgh, N.Y.
All three individuals were elected at the December 1, 2018 meeting of the Mount Saint Mary College Board of Trustees. Their first full board meeting will be in March 2019.
Sr. Kelly, a Dominican Sister of Hope, is committed to promoting educational opportunities for students of all ages. Her dedication to this goal is reflected in her extensive history as an educator, including teaching Math, Religion, and Technology at San Miguel Academy in Newburgh, N.Y.; teaching Theology to upperclassmen and taking on the role of Campus Minister at Mount Saint Michael Academy, Bronx, N.Y.; and her time as principal of Saint Paul the Apostle School, Jersey City, N.J., among many others. Sr. Kelly is currently a member of the Dominican Sisters Leadership Team, holding several leadership roles within the congregation, including representing the Sisters on the Board of the Collaborative Dominican Novitiate in St. Louis, Mo.
Sr. Magee is a Dominican Sister of Hope with expertise in special education. Currently, Sr. Magee works as the Special Education Coordinator at Mid-Hudson Regional Early Education Center in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. where she educates preschool children with Autism and other communication disabilities. Sr. Magee also acted as a consultant and coordinator of special education at St. Francis Hospital and Healthcare Centers in Poughkeepsie for a combined total of more than two decades, and worked extensively at Bishop Dunn Memorial School in the 1980s. Like Sr. Kelly, Sr. Magee was also a member of the Dominican Sisters of Hope Leadership Team, including Vice President of Corporate Board and overseeing the sisters’ Holistic Health Department.
Catania, a graduate of Albany Law School, is a construction and commercial attorney and co-managing partner at Catania, Mahon, Milligram & Rider, PLLC. Catania’s practice focuses on the representation of project owners, design professionals, contractors, and suppliers involved in the Tri-State construction industry. He guides clients from initial contract formation through any potential arbitration or litigation, and helps secure payments for clients through New York and New Jersey’s construction lien laws. He has been with the firm since 2008. Before that, he worked at The Rose Law Firm, PLLC, aiding with product warranty litigation and arbitration. Catania was named an Orange County Rising Star, as well as a Super Lawyers' Rising Star for six years in a row. Additionally, Catania was recently named as one of America’s Top 100 Civil Defense Litigators for 2018.
The Board of Trustees of Mount Saint Mary College is chaired by Charles Frank. Frank, an IBM business executive and former Mayor of Walden, N.Y., has served on the Mount’s Board of Trustees since 2012. He has also served as the Chair of the Board’s Finance Committee and was elected as Vice Chair of the Board in 2014.
