For Mount Saint Mary College alumna Jessica Radenberg ’17, a “packed schedule” isn’t a source of stress – it’s her natural habitat.
Jessica serves as a Senior Specialist at Bank of New York (BNY) Mellon in their Investment Management and Mutual Fund division. While she graduated as a Business Management and Administration major with a concentration in Sports Management, her career has evolved into a multifaceted role involving communications, tech troubleshooting, and process innovation.
As a Senior Specialist, Jessica’s daily tasks are as varied as her schedule was at the Mount. From handling high-level correspondence to troubleshooting digital platforms, she wears a lot of hats within her department.
“I do a little bit of everything, she explained. “My department mainly is a contact center for individual shareholders invested in mutual funds in the BNY mutual funds.”
Jessica credits the Mount for her ability to “switch gears” efficiently. During her time on campus, she was deeply involved in Student Government, the Student Activities Council, and the Office of Residence Life, serving as both a Resident Assistant and a Senior Resident Assistant. She was also a Leadership Scholar and an Admissions Tour Guide.
This intense schedule required rigorous time management, a skill she still utilizes every morning when she writes out her daily schedule at the office.
“I had my toes in a little bit of everything,” she said. “It kept me calm and focused. And now I’m able to balance all the different responsibilities that I have in my career today.”
Like some of her classmates, Jessica’s path wasn’t linear. She began her college career as a Biology major in the Pre-PT track before finding her home in Business. During those transitions, she relied on the supportive community at the Mount, including mentors like former Campus Chaplain Fr. Francis Amodio, O.Carm.
“One of the people that I remember most from the Mount is Fr. Francis,” she explained. “Anytime I was having a hard day or I just needed a little confidence boost or advice, he was always there, always a good resource to go to.”
Looking back on her own Mount experience, Jessica encourages students to stay open to change and embrace the unexpected turns their careers might take.
“It’s okay if you get to your senior year and you don’t know what you want to do anymore,” she explained. “If your concentration isn’t necessarily what you want to pursue, or if you’re a little lost, follow your heart. Listen to yourself and take all the opportunities that come your way, because you never know where they’re going to lead.”
