Stepping onto a new campus means starting from scratch for a lot of college athletes. But for freshman transfer Kaeden Fisher, walking onto the baseball field at Mount Saint Mary College felt less like an introduction and more like a homecoming.

Kaeden, a Pine Bush, N.Y. native who joined the Knights at the start of the Spring 2026 semester, isn’t just playing for the jersey – he’s playing in the footsteps a Mount Hall of Famer. His father, Mike Fisher ’00, was a powerhouse for the Knights. A three-time All-Conference selection, Mike was a driving force behind two NCAA Tournament appearances – including the historic 1999 squad that finished the season ranked #23 nationally.

From the very beginning, Mike was there to mold Kaeden’s skills and ignite his passion for the game.

“Learning from him made me interested in baseball and helped me enjoy the game more,” Kaeden says. “He taught me the basics and always encouraged me to keep getting better. Even after rough days in the batting cage, he would always tell me to keep my head up and stay positive.”

Choosing a college is tough, but when your family history is woven into the very fabric of the athletics department, the decision carries a bit more weight. Hearing stories about his dad’s time at the Mount ultimately influenced both Kaeden’s academic and athletic aspirations.

Now that he’s wearing the blue and black, Kaeden views the family connection as fuel rather than a burden.

“It gives me extra motivation to work hard and make my own name while still being connected to what he did,” Kaeden explains. “At the same time, I try not to put too much pressure on myself and just focus on doing the best I can for the team.”

While the family tie was a massive draw, Kaeden chose the Mount for what it offers him in the present: a top-tier baseball program, a coaching staff dedicated to his personal development, and a culture that feels like family.

Since transferring in, Kaeden has found that the team’s chemistry is its secret weapon. The supportive dugout culture has made the daily grind of college athletics incredibly rewarding. For Kaeden, the atmosphere is one where players constantly push each other to improve, making every practice and game an opportunity to grow alongside tight-knit friends.

For Mike Fisher, seeing his son run out onto the same field is a full-circle moment. But as a Hall of Famer and a father, Mike isn’t looking for a carbon copy of his own career; instead, he’s excited to watch Kaeden build his own.

“Mount Saint Mary gave me some of the most important years of my life,” Mike reflects. “It shaped who I am, both as a player and as a man. So, to see my son have that same opportunity means everything to me. But I want him to build something that’s his. I hope he pushes himself in the classroom, competes with pride on the field, and learns the value of teamwork... If he leaves there confident in who he is and proud of what he’s earned, that’s what I care about most.”

With a legendary support system behind him and a hungry squad of Knights beside him, Kaeden Fisher is doing exactly that: honoring the past, while striking out on a path entirely his own.
