Mount Saint Mary College recently named Maria Vazquez the college’s 2020 Employee of the Year.
A housekeeper with the college’s facilities department, Vazquez, has worked for the Mount for more than 15 years. She was nominated for the award by her co-workers. You can see her receive the award here: www.msmc.edu/EOTY
Vazquez said she was surprised to have been selected for the award, but was honored to accept it. “I love my school,” she said. “Thank you so much. I’m so happy.”
The Employee of the Year selection team consisted of the director of Campus Ministry, the director of Human Resources, the previous year's award recipient, and two members of the college’s Employee Satisfaction Committee.
The Employee Satisfaction Committee was created to provide a voice for Mount staff to channel feedback and contribute towards creating a more engaging workplace environment. The committee generally consists of nearly 20 staff and administrators with the majority being staff. The Employee of the Year award was created by the committee in collaboration with the President and Human Resources.
