Drawing on his vast experience as a legal practitioner and educator, Michael L. Fox, assistant professor of Business Law, MBA coordinator, and Pre-Law advisor at Mount Saint Mary College, recently authored A Guide to Diversity and Inclusion in the 21st Century Workplace.

Published in January 2020, A Guide to Diversity and Inclusion in the 21st Century Workplace  provides readers with a detailed, easy to understand reference guide regarding the major issues of diversity and inclusion in the 21st Century.

“It’s important reading for attorneys engaged in employment and discrimination law (representing plaintiffs or defendants), as well as business owners, executives and HR professionals,” said Fox.

An excellent resource for attorneys, judges, and businesspeople alike, the book details the main federal and New York State laws concerning provisions of anti-discrimination, anti-harassment, and anti-retaliation. The book also delves into protections for sexual orientation, the issue of equal pay, the current status of the federal Equal Rights Amendment, the Americans with Disabilities Act and provisions under the federal Family Medical Leave Act and New York State Paid Leave, and the law as it pertains to the accessibility of websites for those with qualifying disabilities. At the book’s conclusion, readers can apply what they’ve learned with specific scenarios and hypotheticals for analysis.

The book is published by the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) and contains a foreword by the NYSBA president and co-chairs of the NYSBA Diversity Committee. It is available on the NYSBA website: https://www.nysba.org/store/detail.aspx?id=415819

Before this book, Fox authored Primer for an Evolving eWorld (Kendall Hunt Publishing, 2019). Published in January 2019, Primer for an Evolving eWorld discusses the legal implications of the vast array of documents, emails, text messages, websites, photographs, and social media posts that are used in our daily lives.
